Man sues Uber for collision that resulted in amputation

Helping another person should never put you in harm's way, but if it does, it can mean pain and suffering for you and the need to pursue legal action. That's what's happening in this case out of California. According to the news, the man lost both his legs after he helped a driver push a vehicle off the freeway.

The 23-year-old man claims that Uber is responsible for the accident that resulted in a double amputation. He had taken Uber to travel when the vehicle ran out of gas. Kindly, he offered to help his driver push the vehicle off to the side of the road. While doing so, another vehicle collided with them, resulting in his injuries.

How could Uber be held liable?

The man claims that it was because of Uber's driver that he was put into a position where he could get hurt. The driver had tried to get the vehicle to the side of the road when it ran out of gas, but the vehicle stalled on the highway.

Another driver did cause the man's injuries, and the young man is also suing him for compensation. He's expected to have lasting medical bills as well as to need money to make changes to his home, so he can return there and live comfortably with his disability.

Situations like this are tragic and often avoidable. While Uber has not commented on the incident, it's the reality that someone should be held responsible for the injuries this man suffered. If it happens to you, you, too, can file a claim.
