| Mar 17, 2017 | Uncategorized |

A 19-year-old man has turned himself into law enforcement in connection with fatal hit-and-run collision. The victim was a 5-year-old boy .

The accident occurred in the Florence neighborhood at the intersection of Towne Avenue and 82nd Street about 5:15 p.m. on a recent Tuesday.

According to the county coroner, the little boy died of blunt head trauma. The boy was in kindergarten and would have turned 6 years old in May.

A home surveillance video caught the accident on tape, including the vehicle, which was described as a 1990s-era green Chevy Tahoe or Suburban.

The boy’s mother believes that he was helping another neighbor attempt to catch his or her dog. She said that her son wouldn’t have run into the street under normal conditions.

Witnesses to the accident told law enforcement that the green Chevy turned a corner after it had struck the the little boy. Police have additional witnesses that state where the accident occurred.

Hit-and-run accidents can have a devastating effect on a family, especially when a child is taken away. Even though at-fault hit-and-run drivers are charged criminally, they can also be found liable in a civil court. The suspect does not have to be found guilty in a criminal trial in order for him or her to be found liable in civil court.

The family of a loved one who has been killed may pursue compensation for a number of difference damages, including pain and suffering and medical expenses. An attorney experienced in personal injury cases can help you learn more about your legal options in a hit-and-run case.
