It’s no laughing matter that comedian and actor David Spade suffered reportedly minor injuries after he was involved in a collision in his Range Rover this week.
TMZ, along with a host of other media outlets, reported that the wreck occurred by the intersection of Sunset and Beverly Boulevards and involved three vehicles.
According to the New York Daily News, the star of “Grown Ups” was hit Wednesday, Jan. 4, by the driver of another car who was trying to get through a yellow light. The impact spun Spade’s vehicle around and into the path of yet a third vehicle as the actor headed out to dinner around 7:30 p.m.
During the accident, the airbag on the passenger side of Spade’s vehicle deployed. An eyewitness described the Range Rover getting hit from the rear.
Damage was extensive, but despite that, no one was thought to have been very seriously injured. Spade sought treatment for bruises he suffered in the accident.
Authorities do not think that impairment by any of the drivers was a contributing factor to the accident.
If you get involved in an accident here in Los Angeles that was caused by another at-fault drier, it’s important to understand that in order to recover compensation for injuries or other damages, it’s not necessary for the other driver to be arrested or even ticketed.
If the at-fault driver does get a criminal citation or ticket, if they are later acquitted, that does not bar the way for any litigation to be filed in the California civil courts. Should a conviction result, however, that may become evidence in any civil proceedings taken against the at-fault driver.
