Drunk drivers can cause significant safety hazards on the roads. One allegedly drunk driver caused a fatal accident on the northbound 405 early Friday morning, but the circumstances that led to the deaths aren’t normal.
The multiple-car accident claimed three lives. The initial crash occurred when the driver of a Toyota Prius slammed into a pickup truck. That crash pushed the vehicles into the carpool lane. The two occupants of the pickup truck got out of the vehicle. The passenger of an Uber ride that stopped on the scene also got out of the vehicle.
The two pickup truck occupants and the Uber passenger were killed when a Toyota Camry came upon the accident. The Camry driver swerved to try to avoid the accident, but slammed into those three men. The Camry driver was driving at highway speeds when he happened upon the accident.
When law enforcement officers arrived on the scene, the driver of the Prius was arrested for the suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Sadly, the three men who were hit by the Camry were pronounced dead on the scene of the accident.
It is always a sad event when an alleged drunk driver makes the choice to drive and ends up causing an accident. If the accident is a fatal accident, the family members who relied upon the person who was killed might opt to seek compensation for the loss of their loved one. This is done through a wrongful death lawsuit, which can name one or more defendant. Understanding how to seek compensation can help you to handle your case.
